I just want to say thank you so much for posting this, and thank you all for adding to it too. I have done NYC Midnight once in the past (back in 2023) but did not participate in the forums, and this is the first battle that I am doing so! I appreciate the run-down on forum culture and such because it is kind of overwhelming for me. :/

I did just have a question that came to me, is it normal to reply to comments on your story when it comes to the threads? (I did see the post about thanking them with the "thanks" button), but I was wondering if it was "taboo" to thank them with a post or respond to them? Thank you!

Whatever you are comfortable with! Some people use the "thank" button just to keep track of who on their list they've done return reads for. Some people will reply to every comment, some will reply to none. I lean towards the latter (so I can use more of my forum time reading other people's stories), but I'll respond to direct questions sometimes. Happy reading!

As an old school forum veteran, one practical tip I'd like to add is that when you quote someone's post, you should leave no space at all between the end of the quote and your message. It should look like this:
[/QUOTE] Your text goes here It might not seem like much but over a long thread the wasted white space really adds up!

Is there any way to find other first round stories from my assigned group other than wading through every page of the forum?
I've enjoyed some back and forth comments with folks from other groups, but so far I'm not seeing anything posted by other people who were assigned to my group. Is there a search function I'm not seeing? Thanks!

First round stories were uploaded here, if people chose to: Each competition and round has its own master list. You'll only find stories if people chose to upload them, though. Only four people from my group posted their stories.
