I'm in group 13 -
Genre: Romance
Theme: The benefit of the doubt
Emotion: Exhilarated

This is my 4th NYC Midnight challenge, and also the 4th time I was assigned a romance-related genre in the first round...

At this point, I'm starting to wish for Political Satire LOL

Hi, this is my first NYC Midnight challenge!

Group 18
Genre: Historical Fiction
Theme: Blood is thicker than water
Emotion: Gratified

I didn't know that the challenge had assigned genres, and I was devastated to get historical fiction as it's not a genre I read. However, I'm coming up with a story about a flapper at a speakeasy and it's been really flowing so far.

Hi, and welcome!
I'm impressed that you've already gotten over the disappointment of your assigned genre and started writing! (I'm still trying to come up with a plot...)

While I don't really read historical fiction either, it does sound like an interesting genre to write, and your idea sounds fun!

(I personally have zero interest in reading or writing romance, so I will once again be struggling. Clown)

3rd rhyming challenge for me and first time I’ve ever had sci fi. Going to be a tricky one but at least we’ve got a full week. Let the games begin!

Been assigned horror before in other NYCM comps, but it’s beaten me each time. Here’s hoping for a better result this time 🤞

This is my second NYCM competition and I got:

GROUP: 23

GENRE: Historical Fiction

THEME: A race against time

EMOTION: Star-struck

Pretty happy as I predominately write for children, so I hope I can make this work :)

Good luck everyone!

Group 40 - Comedy
Theme: Passive Aggressive
Emotion: Aglow

Not my favourite, but just happy it's not sci-fi again. I've had Sci-Fi for the  last two rhyming story years and I kinda suck at it!

Would be delighted to get historical fiction, as all my stories seem to have some history in them. Haven't been assigned it once in 3.5 years of NYC Midnight endeavours though lol

Best of luck everyone Smile

Second rhyming competition. Hoping I can bust something out, I’ve got an extremely busy week!

Group 14

Ghost: A bitter pill to swallow (theme), annoyed (emotion)

I like the prompts.  Hopefully a story comes emerges from them. It's nice to have a longer writing time with rhyming. Time to stand back from the story and consider plot holes and rhythm.

Good luck, everyone!

Hello, all!

Group: 31
Genre: Fairy Tale and/or Fantasy
Theme: Animal rights
Emotion: Vengeful

I have to admit, I'm not unhappy with these prompts. I've never had fairy tale before, so I'm excited to try.

Good luck, and happy writing!
