Ha. I was just going to say that I predict if I don't like the genre then mash-up it is!

I also predict that the subject will make me want to throw things.... my first short story subject was "rainbow." I'm sorry. A rainbow is a thing, not a subject...

Can we get that in writing? LOL

I think it already is in writing, isn't it?  But it isn't a binding contract if that is what you want because both parties have to give up something (called consideration) in order for a contract to be binding.  Wink

But as far as me doing this, I know it works for me because I've done it twice before, once in an SSC Fairy tale store (The Eye in the Mirror: A Prairie Fairy Tale) and once in FLASH which was a mash-up of sci-fi and western (The Great Plains Robbery or How the Sioux Touched the Stars)

I do dearly love a mash-up!  And a western...ahhh!  But if I get a genre with prompts that lends itself more readily to something other than western (like when I got spy and I mixed it with romance/rom com) then I will do that.  So no, I'm not giving you a guarantee -- but it is highly likely.

:) As a newbie to the SSC format, I had a look at last year's prompts to get an idea of the kind of thing that might crop up under "subject" - and just ended up even more bemused than before. From 'homeschooling', 'bullying' and 'stranded' to 'a roll of undeveloped film', 'a hologram' and 'a map'! And I'm not sure what 'bait and switch' is...

Romance / pretzel-making / cab driver

Comedy / moonlighting / cage fighter

Historical fiction / prediction / suffragette

PoliSat / an X-Ray / 90-year old person

Or something.

Some of these predictions would be fun to write.

I fear the straightforward boring prompts, like: drama // a dark place // a sad person.

I'm going to guess either:

1) Satire / half-time show / paraplegic
2) RomCom / celebrity cruise / arborist

of course there's the standard - Horror / pocket comb / toll collector
