So, I was under the impression the assignment was to write five pages of a larger screenplay, but after looking through other submissions that doesn't seem to be the case. If I get disqualified, c'est la vie, as I'm very much looking forward to professional feedback and feedback from my peers here; what did you do with your fives pages?

I should clarify that this is in regard to the Short Screenplay Challenge 2010.
Thanks. |

I thought it had to be 1000 words or less? - I was under the impression it was a self-contained mini-movie.
Best of luck

It's not clear from the rules or instructions, so I checked the stories posted from last year's competition and I saw that they were complete mini-movies. It's like the Flash Fiction competition over in creative writing - the challenge is to make it complete, even though it is so short.
Miss Hollywood - the requirement was five pages max, there was no word count limitation.

I'm confused about the confusion. The rules clearly say 5 pages and we got emails to say 5 pages...so why are people confused?

DBA - The original question wasn't about the length, but whether to write the opening to a longer screenplay, or a self-contained one. I agreed that was unclear from the instructions we got.

I did read somewhere in all the info on SSC that the limit was 1000. I went by the email that was sent. I didn't even consider that it could be only a portion of the screenplay.

I'll bet that ref to 1,000 words is a hang over from the Flash Fiction competition. They edit and reuse a lot of their material (quite sensibly) and I've seen mistakes like this before.

Good to know I wasn't the only one confused on the story format. I'd tried to look up previous contestants entries, but ah well. I'll be glad to see anyone feedback on my script.
