I had Mystery as my genre and chose to go contemporary. I just couldn't envision the world today without the pandemic and wrote my first post COVID-19 fiction for this contest. Anyone else?

I did, since my setting was an abandoned movie theatre, but then I didn't have the words to go all in with it, so I cut out the specific references. In my mind it's still set there, but the spies aren't social distancing or wearing masks.
Though I guess masks would be a perfect cover for nefarious activity- I should have worked that in. lol.

I did. I had Romantic Comedy as genre and Farmer's Market as setting so it seemed appropriate.

I did...I tried to resist, my genre was romance (ha)...and I really didn't want to write about it, but when my mind went to post-apocalypse I did incorporate it without calling it by name.

No, I didn't. To be honest, it was a nice break from the reality of today's COVID-19 world to escape into my story's non-pandemic reminiscence of times we may not see again for a while to come...

Guilty!
I was assigned political satire and figured it was broad strokes enough for judges/readers...

**edit** My story actually featured the Black Plague as a stand-in for Covid-19. This is because my second prompt was a castle (lol).

I didn't in my political satire (candy shop/doormat), though I considered regulated gas masks and just dropped them as unnecessary word waste. My story's New Americans wouldn't have worn them anyway, I reckon.

Didn't realize it until now, but COVID is all over my piece, lol! The MC is a neurotic mother who's afraid of just about everything, sees danger in the most innocuous of places, fears disease-carrying parasites at a pool, and warns her daughter to cover up her bathing suit in a water park and to avoid strangers in the crowds (allusions to face masks and social distancing?). Maybe a stretch, but hey...

Hist. Fic., so no, but it the Spanish Flu would have been a good parallel if I'd even thought about it. lol I went a bit more political.
