Last year I was pretty damn lucky... My heat was thriller/an ambulance and I just so happened to already have a script idea in the works about an EMT being tormented by a serial killer... this year I can only wait and see.
I heard somewhere (perhaps from a schizophrenic gypsy) that its good Karma to speak aloud your wishes and desires. Send them out into the universe and what have you.
So here it is...
Oh great and powerful Gods of the Sceenwriting Competition hear me! Please allow my genre to be Romantic Comedy and my subject be "A Fat Guy." Cause that would be really awesome.
If you can't do that please just grant me the small favor of keeping far away from Erotic Thriller/Bea Arthur. Cause man, that's just mean.
Amen. Edited by SavageG - 03 Jul 2006 at 1:04pm |

I don't care about the Subject at all. I can work with anything there.
I'm all about the Genre. I would love anything that can be a bit dark, drama, thriller, suspense, etc. Meanwhile, anything comedic gives me the cold sweats.

I feel for you, Rainy Night - when I read through all the genres/subjects from last year, the one that hit me cold - that I had no interest in even coming up with an idea about - was Romantic Comedy - Senior Citizens. I don't want romantic comedy and I don't want Mocumentary.

I agree about "Mocumentary". I hope they don't use that genre at all.

I'm on the other side, I love "Mocumentary" and have been wishing for it the day I entered this insane competition. Anything having to do with comedy or dry comedy gets me going. The other genres I like as well - just not mystery. I don't like it. I can't write it. Make me laugh, or force me to make you laugh.
