Group 8:

Rom com, a large tree, a plaque

So... in the tree? In front of the tree? Is a tree really a location? Maybe I can set the entire story in that one giant redwood that people drive through? Limitless, really!

I so glad you started this thread because I've got a question about mine I'm hoping someone can answer:

I got drama/an audition/a keyboard

And outside the boringness of those prompts, how is an audition a location? Couldn't an audition happen anywhere? It's an action not a place. Or am I nuts?!

Oh, interesting! That's probably a good thing because, yes, an audition can take place anywhere....a lot of flexibility, I'm thinking!

Yep, an audition can happen anywhere, so run with it!

Political satire. A classroom. A fake identification card. This is basically my nightmare prompt.

Me: Please not romance or comedy.  Please not romance or comedy.  Please not romance or comedy.  Please not romance or comedy.  Please not romance or comedy.  Please not romance or comedy....

NYCM: Ok fine.

Me: Phew! Oh thank you.

NYCM: Your genre is romantic-comedy.

Group 16: horror, an impound lot, a wetsuit.

I was hoping for horror! And yet, like a dog that’s caught its tail, have no clue to do with it now that I’ve got it. But will sleep on it and hopefully percolate something spooky.

It's always odd seeing how some locations are very specific with little room for a creative spin, while others are so vague they could happen almost anywhere and are entirely up to interpretation. I definitely prefer the latter though!

I'm group 12 - thriller / a tourist trap / an octopus.

This will be my first time writing thriller, but it feels close enough to my usual style that I should be able to make it work. A "tourist trap" seems like an obvious opportunity for a pun, especially in a thriller, but is it TOO obvious? Hmmmmm lots to think about!

Oh man. My teacher heart can’t wait to read everything posted in this heat (and hope it’s not critical of... well... me).
