Hmm...

Had a feeling I was going to get Hist. Fiction as I was reading the description last night. Better than political satire but not great...

Anyone else a little put off by the fact that book signings are relatively new!?

yeah the location/genre combo on this one is SEVERELY limiting and really frustrated me =/
personally, historical fiction is the only genre i don't think should be included, given that this is a time sensitive competition and it's the only genre that absolutely DEMANDS research (a massive time suck even under normal circumstances)

//whinewhinewhine

anyway, i'm also group 10!  pretty sure i know what i'm doing but getting everything in order with my weekend work schedule is gonna be an adventure all on its own

I think you're safe with the fifties. I have seen plenty of photos and illustrations of book signings from that time period.

Mystery, bonfire, fake ID.

Considering that I've not written a single word, it's probably not going well for me.

Group 12 here. Ghost story, port, jar of strawberry jam.

Kind of bummed because I had a ghost story for challenge 1 as well.
Story is mostly done as I am completely committed elsewhere tomorrow. Sigh.

fairy tale/eating contest/two-headed coin

UGH. Any links to some previous challenges in this genre? I've written a draft in the classic fairy tale mode, but I'm not very happy with it. I'm wondering if I can change the tone/style without disqualifying myself.

Check this years contest forum for stories :) There are forums for every year listed, just go looking.

Horror / a freight elevator / a helmet. I think the true horror is that I haven't even started writing yet.
