I'm not really a comedy writer, but I had fun!

Comedy could be very easy or very hard to write. Because in order to communicate humor, you have to know your audience and their background - what's funny for one person is dull for the other.

This contest is a challenge because you are restricted by a specific topic. Personally, I find it very hard to right on assignment. I write the best when I get inspired in a real life, then I put it on the paper in exaggerated terms.

Comedy is very much performance-related as well.  You can have a funny script that's not funny filmed, and vice versa.

Ha, I was about halfway through an outline before I realized I should be working on COMEDY / COFFEE instead of HORROR / RENT. I was like, "What the heck? Coffee Comedy? Is this an elaborate scheme by the producers of F*R*I*E*N*D*S to generate new episodes for a comeback season?" Ha, then I looked at the other heats and there's one that's something like ROMANTIC COMEDY / INTERNET CAFE and I no longer felt sorry for myself. It's like the man with no shoes meeting the man with no feet.

I a got Romantic Comedy\Internet Cafe. I spent 3/4 of the time trying to come up with the plot that makes sence.

I was a bit baffled at first glance.  But after a day of living with it, the first draft fell out in about four hours.  After a little honing, I was pretty happy.  The challenge for me was finding a story that was not only humorous, but one that was also less than predictably dead-on topic.

We'll see...  (Good luck, everyone!)

Can someone suggest a good romantic comedy script to read?

When Harry Met Sally, Annie Hall, Pretty Woman is a good script...not as much comedy but I guess it kinda has the romantic thing going on.
