Horror--one of my favorite genres! Going to be fun to play around with this one.

Suspense/Fire Escape/Mattress

I checked the other people in my heat, and one of them is Sarah Martin, the 2017 Short Story Comp champ.  This is the second time we've ended up in the same heat together: two overall winners head-to-head!  Oh yeah, with 23 other really talented people too!  <grumble grumble, damn luck of the draw>

Time to make the chimichangas!

OMG - I'm completely thrown. Of all the genre possibilities that I'd have loved to get, hated to get, and thought I would get...Sci-fi wasn't one of them. That genre wasn't even remotely on my mind so I honestly don't even know how to feel about it haha. I don't read sci-fi nor do I really watch it (unless Hunger Games and Star Wars are sci-fi). Guess my first google search will be "How do I write sci-fi?" LOL I'm group 14 and my other elements are a fashion show and a chain.

You come up with great stories so I can't wait to see what you write for this. I hope your story has a seeing eye dog for the blind SmileSmileSmile

Write political satire and add robots and/or aliens in a technology-rich world. Done!

Also noticed, no political satire or spy in this round.  Thank goodness for small favors!

Aaaw, I love this post so much! "my eyes closed for most of October." Love that. Horror might be more fun to write than it is to watch. Wink
