I've ploughed through the "This story's amazing" phase and have officially arrived at the "Crushing self-doubt" phase. What about everyone else?

This working on picking an idea for a first draft, so you're ahead of me! Woke up with the threat of a migraine, so trying to take care of myself while getting as much figured out in my head as I can.
Learning interesting things through mild research of course.

My first draft came in... UNDER THE WORD LIMIT.
So now of course I'm paranoid it's garbage.

Not quite finished my first draft yet, and naturally it's approaching the 1,800 mark before I've even started the final act. The scissors will be out in force later...

To be fair, tomorrow is a write off for me (flying to another country at 8am and it's already 8pm now!) so I had to pretty much finish it today!

Spent most of the afternoon trying to figure out if there’s any way for a “treasure hunt in the desert” story, a classic staple of the action-adventure genre, to fit into the thriller genre instead.
And I swear to y’all, the conclusion I reached was, “yes, if it takes place at night.” Apparently my hangup was that thrillers are darker than action-adventure, and my brain decided that “‘make it literally, physically dark” was the solution. So we’ll see how this goes.

This information may be on the website, but I'm not seeing it: is it still the top 5 from each group going through? So there will be 45 people in Round 4?
