LMAO -- me too! Placed mine in a fantasy universe. It's clearly rom, easy on the com (but is fairly light hearted and has a few jokey bits). I'm just crossing my fingers for a low submission rate in my heat. LOL

I've had a massive sinus infection this week and the brain fog is unreal! I hope this story I wrote is comedic enough. 
In group 74 - Comedy, Penmanship and a Prankster.

Glad you came up with something. I’ve got 400 words of ugh. Work was crazy this week. Last nights every night. I barely got to think about it all week. Whenever I did, I’d find myself going… penmanship. WTF?  I don’t know if I’ll get something in or not. We’ll see. Looking forward to seeing what more creative people have dreamt up.

Every cycle I hope to avoid horror, but this is maybe the best story I've written so far for NYCM. Looks like working outside of my comfort zone is a good thing. 

I was working out of town when this launched, totally forgot about it until half way through, and wrote it all in 3 days. Now I've got a few hours to get some beta reviews, polish it, and I'm good.

I just submitted mine. I think it went decently (betas liked it, at least). I've never written romcom in my life, and I steer clear of anything romance, so this was a first for me. Romcom's one of the two genres I dreaded drawing (the other being romance). I guess we'll find out in a few months if the judges liked it. Approve

I hope you're able to come up with something! Maybe something like a prankster is doing something in a penmanship class and he even though he's a good prankster, he gets pranked? I'm excited to read yours!

Well, I submitted something.  Not quire sure if it's a comedy, but it's something.  It's 1500 words, so well under the maximum word count, but it's at least something.  Given that I managed to write the entire thing today, it'll do.  Oh well.
