Where do I begin?  If you want to scam people, you need to do a much better job.  Here are some tips for more effective douchebaggery:

1. The website is full of typos (not a promising start for a creative writing endeavor.)
2. The "Short Story" tab promises a display of the "shortlisted" stories in the competition by August 31st.  August 31st also happens to be the submission deadline.  I'm leery of any competition that doesn't understand what shortlisting means, so remove this at once.
3. Not putting a single name of any judge or coordinator of your contest on the website is a huge red flag.  Not to say that the vaunted list of "academicians" or "Journalist" that you have at the ready aren't quality individuals, but when you fail to put an actual human name with credentials behind your words, you lose a ton of credibility.  Add several important-sounding judges with cool accomplishments.  Make all of them Pulitzer-Prize winners.  Or just copy Stephen King's and J.K. Rowling's wikipedia bios and pictures.  I mean, hey, if you're gonna scam, go big or go home.
4. Having precisely one category, for all ages, and all stories between 1,000-10,000 words is laughable.  And I mean that I actually laughed when I saw it.  Out loud.  No one will honestly believe a piece of flash fiction can be weighed comparably to a novella.
5. If your main goal is to accumulate a thousand pieces of random fiction (some probably by very talented writers), post three fake titles and fake names of the "winning" stories (so that you don't have to actually pay money to anyone), and then leverage the good stories by putting your real name on them and resubmitting them to legitimate fiction contests around the world--CONGRATULATIONS, because that's what your website is communicating--you're one step closer to being an effective writer.  Now, just try a little harder to HIDE that subtext, and you might really have something.

Or, you could, y'know...

STOP SPAMMING LEGITIMATE CONTESTS' MESSAGE BOARDS, YOU UNBELIEVABLE JACKWAD.

Sincerely,

Every writer who has ever lived.

LOL

I think the spammer also needs to proofread their post:
Quote any objectionably material
That sort of mistake is pretty obvious.

My question is how did this character end up in this forum?

Does this mean they paid the $45 just to scam no one? That's dedication, and bad planning.

@td333777 , @Jhill , @velocisarah

The scams are when you:

(1) ask for credit card

(2) prize is advertised in denomination of $1000 and entry fee is not less than $25

(3) the contest is conducted on very regular intervals, e.g. 3 months

In our case,

(1) The prize is a meagre £100 and no entry fee.

(2) The website was launched a week ago. And thus, the google search results in no prior contest conducted by ReaderWriterLounge

(3) This is one man's time and effort and prize money are coming out of his own pocket. The process is ofcourse supported by few like-minded people.

(4) We are not even asking for any donations

(5) The Intent is to provide a platform and encouragement to writers. Only a good deed to help.

(7) Professionally we are not writers or work in a creative field. If the question is why this field then answer is, it does not take much to help.

(6) Disclosing names of Judges can result in conflict of Interest. Thus, not disclosed.

While there could be some genuine mistake/ typo from our side, if you were even close to being a creative individual then you would not have approached in such a manner. But provided a constructive feedback.

What you have demonstrated here is narrow mindedness, hate and a person who has low IQ by calling us "scammers" and "Jackwad".

We would like to ask @td333777 , @Jhill , @velocisarah what has been your contribution to the field of creativity?

Instead of supporting a genuine effort to provide encouragement to potential writers, you are spreading negativity of your own personal bad experiences. Bet you have faced rejections time and

again. You have all my sympathies

The forum should now decide whether you 3 should be part of this genuine forum or not?

If this is a legitimate contest (we get a lot of bots posting currency scams and things like that and honestly, until your rather rude reply, I thought you were one too), post in the creative writing corner forum. The forum that you posted on is only for reviewing works written for the contest. If you are representing a legitimate contest, respect the rules of the forum.

Your above comment? And you call yourself a creative person? Who is being rude here? Are you respecting the rules?

We are advertising our effort on this forum as we think we can make a difference? Can you stop spreading hatred? Sorry to say but it is disgraceful

On my website I will definitely start a writers grudge section. Guess what you are invited to participate too

I think you all three @td333777 , @Jhill , @velocisarah owe us an apology for calling us scammers

Okay, so maybe you're not a bot. However, the only posts you've made in the NYCM forums are announcements for your "contest," and your outlandish reply here. Are you a participant in the NYCM contest? Seems unlikely, but if you are, perhaps you should post your story and have real conversations with the actual members. If you are legit (BIG IF) then you should be posting your solicitation in the proper section. I think the more likely scenario is you're fishing for personal info from people you can lure to your site & then use in identity theft scams.

Am I a participant in the NYCM contest? haven't I made it clear already that I am holding a contest

You don’t have to be a Einstein to figure that out

By the way, I admire your intellect of using prize money as a bait to lure people to some site to conduct ID Scams. Have you been already involved in orchestrating such schemes

and you still owe us an apology. come on its not that hard to say sorry

If you had been a user of this forum, and taken part in actual discussions of writers' work, I would have shown your post more respect.  Since you joined merely to advertise a totally different contest, I didn't have any problem criticizing you--but I certainly didn't mean to hurt your feelings.  I shouldn't have called you a jackwad, and for that, I apologize.

As for the rest of your post, you say:

"The scams are when you:

(1) ask for credit card

(2) prize is advertised in denomination of $1000 and entry fee is not less than $25

(3) the contest is conducted on very regular intervals, e.g. 3 months"

So, in essence, you are calling NYC Midnight (the people running and paying for this forum) a scam (because they violate all three of these conditions), and trying to advertise (for free) using a resource you seem to think is fraudulent.  These contests are NOT a scam, and I know this for a fact.  Despite "not being close to a creative individual" I took first place in the last NYC Midnight contest, and they paid me promptly.

In the future, I'd advise you to advertise in other locations, not forums that are specifically designed for writers in contests you think are scams.  We come to these forums to share each other's work and support the creative process...not look at free advertisements for other contests.
