I'm not sure this is the right place to post this. My subject for the shower story contest is Shellacking. It seems like means either a defeat or to varnish something. Is there a way for me to confirm which definitions would be acceptable.

Any defensible definition can be used. You can even make one up, as long as the story justifies it. I once got assigned "ambulance chaser" as a character, and I wrote about a grim reaper who literally chases ambulances to reap souls before other reapers can beat them to it. Good words and best of luck! :)
