Group 47

Romantic Comedy
Antique(s)
A carpenter

This one is definitely giving me trouble -- and not just the genre! But I have some vague ideas that will probably solidify under the time crunch and I'll write it all the final day, like I do with everything.

Damn, I came in here hoping to find someone else from my group stuck in a similar mental purgatory from this prompt:

Group 60: Mystery / Alimony / A bus driver

I've come up with several quarter-baked ideas, but I haven't written a word yet. I think I'll just have to start running with one of them and see where it ends up. Maybe the best mystery stories also started out as mysteries to their authors?

Group 69: Mystery / Alimony / A School Bus Driver, same group?

I was kind of stuck at first. I've written about 8 pages now, barebones, just adding stuff and revising it over and over again.

Wow, thank goodness you showed up and reminded me that it's a school bus driver, and not just any ol' bus driver. Congrats on getting 8 pages down! I'm still at zero, but planning to get started tonight.

Edit: And I got the group number wrong at first. I'm not off to the strongest start, if this is any indication. LOL

Glad I could help in some way lol.. I look forward to reading yours and the rest of our groups scripts, when we can put them online.

I'm in group 8:

Thriller
Real estate
Gambler

I found it quite tricky to join those prompts together smoothly, but I think I now have a tentative first draft ready. I'm going to let it brew for an evening, then will check it over again tomorrow. How's everyone else getting on?!

Hey, heatmate.  I'm still working on mine.  It's percolating.  Nothing seems to be gelling for me.

I'd love to read it when we are able.

Rom Com / Grandfather / A Grudge.

I groaned and yelled and groaned some more when I saw my genre assignment.

Oddly, I had a blast writing it.

Still in the editing process but will probably end up submitting early.

Good luck to everyone still ideating and writing... Remember this is supposed to be fun! :)

After my initial, very British reaction of..... WTF is a pitchman? ... I think it's not so bad. I was originally sulking as I wanted horror or Historical Fiction. Perhaps the prompts could be molded into the latter?

Thanks for putting up this thread dcontarato..... I'm always intrigued with how others feel about their prompts!

Good luck everyone!

Wtf IS a 'pitchman'?

I got  (G52) GHOST STORY / COWARDLY(which I'm sure is an adjective / adverb and not a 'subject' (noun), but never mind) / CONTRARIAN

I haven't even started yet Ouch. Too distracted with staring at a wall all day.

Best of luck! And yes, will happily share once we're able to - would love to read yours too! I noticed you've been a member since 2009, that's ace - have you submitted every year?

I feel your pain efish! I haven't started either, but I do have an idea now that might work. My intial ideas seemed too obvious.
A pitchman is one of those annoying 'in your face' sales people with a suitcase that has collapsible legs, trying to sell you something 'that will change your life,' something that 'you really need.'
It should be easy enough to slot a character like that into the subject of 'a carnival.' I'm still struggling to get that into my head, that it's the subject, not location!!

Good luck!

This one filled me with terror, so much so that I avoided the forums and had no ideas for several days. But I ended up getting something down. No idea if anyone will find it funny, but I think I nailed zany.

Group: 30
Genre: Comedy
Subject: Micromanaging
Character: A Hotelier

There was definitely about 72 hours of thinking this would be my first no-show. Let's see if round two is in my future!

SC'21 R1 - Hot Dog Soup
