(Seems like round one isn't usually. early.)

I feel like I’m always the most excited about the first round results. 🤔 And then it becomes a more anxious feeling when (or if) I advance into further rounds. LOL
Interestingly, I feel like the chatter on the forum that I’ve grown to love - dare I say, crave - has been oddly silent this year. I feel like the field is more crowded with the 500 advancing and the Scary Story launching. I imagine many authors enter multiple contests, so it seemed as though commentary faded in the Rhyming Story and ramped up elsewhere earlier. Or maybe it’s just me and my dopamine addiction … LOL Either way, I’m looking forward to the results and wish everybody good luck!

I don't think my story is going to put me through to the next round... but on the other hand, it is hands-down the best of all of the group 20 stories that have been posted on the master list. (It is the only one
 )

Last year, rhyming round 1 results were delayed a day, but I have high hopes for this year's announcement being early. Fingers crossed!

There’s a master list of story’s. I was having a hard time navigating the forums and finding others really talking or posting about the challenge. Except for the posts about the rhythm scheme, which made me feel like I should have challenged myself more to create something more interesting than AABB

I’m so keen for the results too! It was my first rhyming story entry and I had a lot of fun with it.
I’m relatively new to NYCmidnight, I’ve only entered 3 others (250 word, 100 word, 500 word) and the best I have done is 2 HM’s. My favourite entry is the one that didn’t get any placing, so it does remind me that judging is subjective and not to take it to heart  I really enjoy the forums and the sharing of the stories, and I wish the platform was updated into a more mobile-friendly way to encourage more people to use it.

This was my first writing competition and it already seems such a long time ago! I’ve since entered a couple on WB, and the Scary Story competition on NYCM. It will be nice to see something I’ve written come full circle. Whether I progress to round two or not, it’s all good learning!
