I'll start!

Group 6: romcom / white lie(s) / a talent scout

Worksop's Gotte Talent

When the straw-to-gold spinning exploits of a foreign queen spark envy, the royal family of a neighbouring kingdom send out their Prince -- and the court wizard -- to find a magical money-spinner of their own.

Romcom's my least favourite NYCM genre, so naturally I mashed this one up with fairty-tale which is my second least favourite NYCM genre.

Group 12 - Historical fiction - second best - a hustler

Colleen’s B-Side Birthday

Teetering on the edge of the boy band craze, a burned-out manager scrapes through her birthday corralling would-be pop stars, chasing validation — and begging the universe for a goddamn phone.

I’m so sorry to anyone reading this — like my parents — who are abjectly horrified that the 90s count as “historic fiction,” but the definition specified 25 years or more.

*screams into the void*

I wrote a hist fic set in 1997 last year and felt like a traitor to Gen X. Next year, 9/11 stories will count as historical fiction. Yikes.

Though I'm currently watching a long-running TV show that began in 1996 and is still going now, and the early seasons do feel REALLY antiquated. By ~2005 it's pretty much modern except without social media being ubiquitous, but those mid-90s episodes feel like they're from another era entirely.

Group 2: Ghost Story / Lost and Found / A shy person

The Haunting at Chickamauga

On their tiresome retreat following the bloody battle of Chickamauga, a band of Union soldiers take refuge in the home of a Confederate woman.

Unlike Round 1, this genre was for sure not in my wheelhouse - nor is historic fiction. So why not make it both? LOL It's been fun pushing myself in a different direction and using the prompts to think outside the box.
