I've posted this topic in a previous year, when the assignment sheet was a lot easier to import into Excel and fiddle with. Now, it's in some program called Airtable, and despite my best efforts, I've had some trouble with getting it to display properly. I whipped up this list by hand, so there may be some errors. Hopefully not, but call 'em out if you see any. I've arranged it alphabetically by genre, because I think it makes it easier to zero in on what would be your favorite. (And sorry for the formatting... the forum really threw a fit when trying to paste in a proper table. Here is a sheets link if you prefer.) Any prompt you really wish you'd been assigned? Any prompt that you're particularly glad you didn't get?

Lol, I definitely thought this was a preemptive story post before I opened it.

I was really hoping for sci-fi this time. Maybe sci-fi/unforgettable/treasure seeker.

Wow! This really puts into perspective the scope of round one and the work of the judges and admin. Just seeing it all laid out like this. I had no idea there were so many groups for my genre, mystery.
Even though I found mystery challenging, I like the mystery/implantation/hitchhiker. Sounds like good prompts for horror, sci-fi, and spy. I like most of the action adventure ones, and the pol sat/ edutainment/ witch. Comedy / missed decimal point / Renaissance and the “out of body” one also pop stories in my head right away. Sci-fi sunseeker sounds cool, and a lot of the horror ones. Fairytale/flood/quitter also gives me ideas. This is a fun post! Thank you!

Thanks for doing this! I have been cherry-picking some of my favorites here to try to exercise.
I am so curious what people did with Historical Fiction / Seasickness / A Clown and Horror / Talent Show / Self-Made! |

I've had Sci-Fi four times across the competitions, followed closely by Romance/Rom-Com. All I asked this time was for something else. I got Action/Adventure. Thrilled! The one genre I'd love is Fairytale. So looking at your list, any
series of prompts in that section would do. Although that said, Group 68 is my
go-to here. My hat is off to you for taking the time to compile this list. Edited by Nimhathuna - 23 Jan 2022 at 5:02pm |

Wow, it really is amazing looking at this in one compiled list... so much work to pull this contest off
There are a lot of intriguing ones, but I think this one sounds like it might have been fun to write to... 12 | Suspense | Room service | A plagiarist |

Thank you @okcryptid for assembling this. I feel like it just writes itself. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna copy/paste this so I have a comprehensive list of prompts for the future. I developed my own prompts (heavily influenced from NYCM) so I could write one short story every week for the whole year. I might use these prompts if I do the same thing next year. If anyone is interested in receiving my prompts, I send an email out every Sunday. I can add you to the list, just message me :)
