I think she's saying this is so good it needs music to match the presentation.

I just realized you're from Canada.  In the US (and in my age group) the words "sting" bring images of the Newman/Redford movie and the song that went with it -

Just because I'm from North of you doesn't mean I haven't seen The Sting, by the late great george roy hill :) alas no, it's nothing of the sort. As the synops suggests, it's more of an after-sting.

Geez, Teresa...really?  Do you REALLY have to keep showing everyone up? Wink

Seriously--congrats on your last story.  It didn't surprise me at all that you were one of the top scorers in the round.  And it looks like your next story is going to DEFINITELY be in there too.

I, honestly, was just happy to make it in the top 15 (though I guess I technically placed 9th).  I'm crossing my fingers that I can at least do well enough in this round that it gets me into round 3.  If I can get a 7 or higher again...MAYBE that'd put me into round 3.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wrote the logline first, when I didn't really have an ending (or much of a middle) in mind, and then, as in round 1, took it right to the stroke of midnight, so hopefully the judges won't notice that the story doesn't quite deliver the same punch as promised in the logline!  But 2 hours before the deadline I was ready to blow off the whole thing and go to bed, so I'm just happy I hung in there and churned out something!

Good luck everybody - can't wait to read your stories. They sound great!

Group 10 drama, thrift shop, stamp

Historical fiction and drama are too close together. Anyway...

Title: The trash and the treasure

Synopsis: A young man is reunited with an elderly woman from his past in a thrift shop. He is carrying a gun.

Was a tricky story to write.

G12: Sci-fi, Shovel, Gift Shop

An Unearthed Truth

Aleah is the first of her kind to travel off planet in a very long time, a fact she did not question even as she packed her bags--in the name of science--for her two year space cruise, but now that her journey is coming to an end, she struggles with how to share her findings with her family and her people. After all, they were wrong all along.

Ha! Poor Peter. This idea popped in my head immediately after reading the prompts, so I almost didn't write it figuring using Peter Rabbit might be a common way to go considering the setting. But the idea wouldn't leave me alone, so I went with it anyway.

I didn't post my round 1 story because I didn't have time to critique and felt bad about putting mine out there when I wouldn't be able to return feedback. I wasn't going to post this one either for the same reason, but with so many people saying they want to read it (thanks y'all, at least I know I wrote an intriguing synopsis Big smile), I might post it anyway.

I think it is hysterical you wrote about Peter, but for another reason -

Tops is in your group, and at first she couldn't think of what to write about.  I told her she should write about Peter Rabbit!  The difference in stories came in was that the mystery was that Peter's mother didn't know why Peter's eyes were always red and why he was always laughing inappropriately, etc.  Come to find out, Peter was no  longer stealing veggies but hanging out in ye old mary jane garden - LOL!  But momma rabbit had to solve the mystery.

Tops decided to go a different route.

ANIMALIA: Black metal group Animalia has a treat for the crowds at the High Valley Music Festival.

It took everything in me not to add the line "And that treat is ... ::pause; whips off sunglasses:: ... DEATH!"

I almost did a very similar thing, almost ended my synopsis with "when the venue is... to DIE for!"
