Don't know about everyone else, but I am really looking forward to this!
I have not been able to enter in any of the last contest due to travel, or being ticked at the change to the FF, lol. But I am ready for this!

I'm still alive! I've had a lousy year or two in competitions but the 250 is my favourite so I'm hoping I'll get back on track.

This will be my first year but I'm looking forward to it!
I've started writing some stories based on random prompts, trying different story lengths, and trying to normalize all the formatting & whatnot in advance. Seems like a good challenge, and a good bunch of people around.

You will enjoy the hell out of this! The 250 can be a tricky length, so don't get discouraged if everything does not work so well, lol. It takes practice - well, unless you are just really good at it, haha. For most of us, the first one is a proving ground that builds for the next one. The main thing is to have fun doing it.

I'm fairly certain I am still alive, but you just gave me a good idea for a horror story :o

It does seem tricky! I have some experience with online character roleplay that has some variability in post lengths, but it is very different writing an actual story without someone else to riff off of. I also just realized that this is for the 250 but my application is for the 2000 in January. It would be rad to try all the formats though! I appreciate the encouragement and will be looking forward to nosing around here some more.

Hello! It's certainly been quiet around here.

I haven't entered the 250 yet this year. I made it to finals last year, but part of me doesn't want to push my luck again. The closer the deadline gets, though, the more I'm leaning towards doing it. I'm so addicted to these contests!

I was so disappointed about the microfiction, too! I had never tried it, but I had two other people talked into doing it with me. Since we'd all be guaranteed two rounds, it was going to be super fun. Too bad they did away with it! I did wind up doing the Scary Story challenge and loved it.

Welcome! The Short Story challenge is great! It's a lot of work, but worth it, in my opinion. I hope you have a fun time!

Yes, the loss of the two rounds was a disappointment. A lot of people really liked that format. Maybe they will bring it back!!!!

Thank you, I appreciate it! As it inches nearer I have been pondering if I've bitten off more than I can chew, especially with a higher word count. But it will be a good challenge and something fun to look forward to. I hope you have a fun time as well!

I am actually never 100% sure if I’m alive or dead. But I am excited about this challenge!

The big problem with short story is they cut the word count to only 2000. I passed because of that. It's not worth writing basically flash. Scary I tried, but 250 would need about $5 for an entry fee to be worthwhile. They're really misreading how much competition they have with lower prices and shorter turnaround time.

Hard to believe it's 250 time again. Seems like I just finished the last one! I debated entering, as I have a busy weekend ahead, but I really enjoy it.

I gave the 100 a shot and even though the judge's seemed to like my story, it went nowhere.

Looking forward to reading some great pieces!

100 has been the hardest for me so far. At least, it was for the 2024. I might try it again in 2026, but I needed time to lick my wounds and improve my skills a bit.

I'm barely alive and will be doing the 250! The last two challenges of the 250 I didn't make it to the second round, so got a bit demoralized. But it's still my favorite length, and I have made it to the finals before, so let's see how it goes.

Unfortunately, I also signed up to do a craft show all day Saturday, so my writing time will be limited. Sometimes a time crunch is exactly what I need NOT to overthink!

I'm alive, 'tho aren't we all clinging to a tree, trying to hang on during these topsy-turvy times?! OY! I've gotten far at 100 and 500 micros but 250 is my very worst writing pool to swim in. But I signed up to see if I can keep the streak of suck going!!!
