Apologies if this info is frequently shared and I'm just not searching the right keywords.

I'm curious if final round winners (for any challenge) are determined exclusively from their final round place, or if the final round takes into consideration the placement of all previous rounds.

For example, let's say Very Talented Writer (VTW) placed first in Round 1 and Round 2, and second in Round 3. Quite Talented Writer (QTW) placed second in Round 1, third in Round 2, and first in Round 3. Who wins? VTW or QTW?

Thanks for any insight!

For Short Story competition, you enter each round with a clean slate, so whoever's final round story places first is the winner. I assume it's the same for the other competitions as well, but I only do Short Story.

do you know if the judges look into quality of writing or deeper meaning of the scene?

Hi Hiro! Crez is correct. In every competition, it's a blank slate each round, even for the finals.

The only one that didn't work exactly like that was the microfiction contest, but they did away with that competition this year.

For the finals, there are five judges instead of three. The feedback is very in-depth and high quality and they're looking at everything.
