Anyone else not able to get enough of these challenges??

I'm counting down the hours until the http://writingbattle.com/" rel="nofollow - Writing Battle opens (Feb 1), and then I'll be waiting for the http://www.writersplaygroundllc.com/" rel="nofollow - Writers' Playground prompts to come out (Feb 15).

Who else is joining these comps?  What other comps do I need to sign up for?

Should I be editing my novel?  Yes.  Am I just writing short stories instead?  Absolutely.

LOL

http://globesoup.net" rel="nofollow - Globe Soup is having a horror challenge this month. Tickets are reasonable  (depending on where you live and your exchange rate. The price is in GBP), but I don't think they give feedback like Writers Playground does.

If anyone is interested in an essay contest, The Great American Think off is fun and free to enter. As a bonus, if you are selected as one of the four finalists, they will fly you to a small town in Minnesota where you get to debate the essay question with the other finalists in front of the whole town. The experience is very like being on the set of a Christopher Guest movie.

Signed up for Writing Battle too! I do have a question about the draws:

It says you get 6 draws, but how does it work? For instance, if you draw a second character/theme, then draw a third, do you then LOSE that chance to choose that second character/theme, or can you go back to it?

Do you get locked out of the previous draws once you draw again, basically? Inquiring minds (and my mom) would like to know.

Sadly once you opt to draw you lose the previous one. But you still have 6 more, lol.

Welcome to the contest! If you decide to redraw one of your prompts, including genre, then you give up that prompt forever, and cannot get it back. So yes there is an element of risk, but with so many redraws (except for genre, which is just one opportunity) I think it’s worth it if you really can’t make the first one or two work. Being able to change anything and everything is certainly a unique and awesome feature of WB. You may also want to check out the WB forums for more info.

Have the genres been revealed for tonight's writing battle?

For those registered, they will be announced via email an hour before the Battle. But they will also be on our socials tonight  at 10pm EST.

Anyone can join late until Saturday, 10pm EST -- but regardless when you sign up, everyone's stories are due by Sunday, 10pm EST.

Good luck in the Battle Wink

I’m in Writing Battle. First timer over there. Being able to swap your genre and prompts is actually more terrifying than not being able to Shocked I used all my prompts draws already and its only been up for 30 minutes Tongue I still have my genre swap.

omg, I KNOW!

I got a genre I'm super happy with (Enemies to Lovers), and I've used one redraw on a character.  I might redraw my object but I'm not sure yet.

If you want to beta read for others or find folks to beta read for you, I've set up a http://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JiF9LknhRNHt7eMtQ10VevHlVuag6zjQRB8ALmtU6d0/edit?usp=sharing" rel="nofollow - sign up sheet !  (Remember to only beta within your own genre!)

Hey guys!!
I actually didn't swap any this time around (that's 2/3 no swap for me in WB).  Thanks so much for the beta sheet idea, but it seems to be "view only" right now?
