Am I the only one who likes to go look at the other prompts and write stories for them to push myself?
For instance, I got group 49, so I've gone back, starting with group 1 to expand my comfort with other genres/actions/words. Here's my first one:
___

Group 1 – Action/adventure – Watering a plant – catch

Life Alert

Local Gardener Catches a Killer

In local news, eighty-year-old grandmother Edna Tamar was honored for her assistance in helping apprehend the person responsible for the tragic slaughter of a Moorestown family last week. News sources indicate the suspect was hiding in various vacant homes across the city. His mistake was hiding next door to Enda Tamar.

“I was out in my garden, watering my plants, mindin’ my business when this hoodlum snuck right into the old Jenkin’s house. Used my life alert button to get those police here ASAP!” Edna recounted.

More details to come as this story unfolds.

I jotted down a bunch of prompts. I may write a bunch of them up and include them in my email list once I get that going.

I love the way you used the prompt for this story. The crime blurb is perfect for a 100-word limit.

I may be mistaken, and sorry if I am, but I thought when I read the rules for this contest that the key word (catch) had to be used EXACTLY as spelled.  Like, they emphasized it.  So 'catches' and 'catch' are not the same.  I could be wrong but I think it's worth double checking for future reference.

Good job Smile

You’re half right - the EXACT letters in the word prompt have to appear as assigned. So “catch” and “caught” are not the same, and even “color” and “colour” wouldn’t pass (as far as I know). But the FAQs say you can add letters before and after the assigned word to form a longer word (even if that longer word has a wildly different meaning). So “catch” becoming “catches” works, and I’ve even turned “vest” into “gravestone” before and been fine. :)

The story you wrote was simple but perfect. You’re very talented. I’m looking forward to reading your other stories.
