So happy to be doing this again this year. Last year was my first year and I was totally thrown by having to do mystery and then horror, both not my typical genres. But this year I embraced the whole Crime Caper thing with a story that is SO not my usual thing that it was actually quite freeing. Excited to read everyone's scripts!

Good Deeds
Kenny
turns to his friends for help in finally outflanking his smart, successful
older twin brother, but a family party makes it hard to acquire a Monopoly on

Not my best logline. This was a very uneven ride. After a day or two of complete freeze I had an idea and had a great first couple of pages... then it was a slow grind. I had a really hard time fleshing out the middle. I actually skipped ahead and wrote the final scenes. Then I had to sort of match them up.

Was a little disappointed to receive romance as a genre (the one I have been most dreading since first entering NYC competitions), and two prompts which lead to quite a predictable plot line... That said, this is my first screenplay so I was just happy to get something submitted!
On The Fiddle
Lady Evelyn, grieving her recently deceased husband, is oblivious to the secrets of her humble and reserved butler, who has more to him than first meets the eye.
(I realise most if not all of the judges are American, so I'm interested to know whether my title has the same (double) meaning over there as it does in Britain?!)

MISSING MIKE
Home for his father's funeral, Adam has some decisions to make about the family business. But can he live up to his dad's reputation?
I'm a bit of a Leonard Da Quirm when it comes to titles, and was struggling to get into this script until last night, I only finished the first draft with about two hours to go and slapped a title on it - It's only this morning that I look at it and realise I practically named my story Magic Mike. Oh well!

Oh hello there heatmate! I'm sure it is much better than you think and I would love taking a look. If that helps, I struggled too. Particularly because this time, I didn't have much time to write. Since crime capers allow for a certain suspension of disbelief, I'm banking on that to cover for the bits of my script that would perhaps require a bit more explanation. And whatever happens, we managed to submit something on time :-)
