Hey, everyone! This has been my very first NYC Midnight competition ever, and I had an absolutely wonderful time. I had the pleasure of being part of Group 108 (Ghost story, removing lipstick, "weigh")! My title and first three words are:
Newton's Third
"After months of"
(My next three words are "flinging around candelabras"—much more interesting!)
Glad and grateful to have found this community! Good luck to all.

I went with the Great Depression, farm setting. I'm really happy with the story, but in 250 words, I don't know if I hit enough of the 'historical' aspect. It's there in the concept--it's just, did I pull it out enough?

I'm very excited to take part in this challenge for the first time. It was great motivation to finally get past that blank page/screen. I honestly didn't know if I'd manage to actually do it until it was done.

Yes! I only opted for the one word in Gaelic because I’m definitely no expert. I’m feeling a bit panicked because my husband, who was born in Ireland, didn’t understand my first draft at all.

This is my first NYC challenge and I really enjoyed it, despite getting the genre I really didn't want! Just shows that stories are more about connection than genre. You can connect through the shared human experience no matter the setting.
