So, if I don't use all the words allotted to me, can I sell the un-used ones?
Is there a post like the beta reads for this?

I believe they dock one point for every unused word.

Sometimes it's what's left unsaid that matters most. That's why I used my unused words wisely.

Actually, My first draft came in at 248. Then I edited it down for concision and it ended up at 255. I chalk it up to a glitch in the matrix. Currently sitting at 250 even. I am hoping if I let it marinate for a bit, it will soak up some of those words so I'll have space to add 'btw: This all took place in 1930 in case it wasn't clear kaythanksbye."

What? That's not anywhere in the guidelines. All it says is it can't be over 250 words nothing about under.

No! Sorry. Stupid joke. It can be under 250 words.

Although personally I'll be using every word I can.

Smile

I try not to use more words than necessary, though there is a balance. My initial draft (written at 10:30 PM) was only 35 words long, and I figured that's definitely not enough.

That's only two words more than your post in this thread. If you had pulled that off, I'd be impressed.

Okay, first draft of "Chance Encounter," with the prompt of:

Romance,
dyeing hair,
lower

is in the crockpot simmering. It's exactly 250 words.

I did 180 words in 90 minutes and decided I was done. No need to torture the judges for longer than necessary.

If you can sell all those you will be rich!
