The Center for Writing Excellence is sponsoring a fiction writing contest: http://writingxlns.wordpress.com/contest-page/ - http://writingxlns.wordpress.com/contest-page/
Fiction in Five is a fiction writing contest where the entrant follows a prompt and has five days to write a 750-1000 word story. The entry fee is only $5 and the first place winner will win $20 plus free tuition for a Webinar of his or her choice, plus publication on our Website. All rights to the story remain with the author.

Actually, this contest is now updated, it occurs on the first Monday every other month - the next one is Monday, August 1, 2011. The first prize is now a $25 Amazon gift card, a canvas tote bag, publication on the Website AND publication in the annual Fiction in Five Anthology.
