Hey all, I'm bummed not to advancing to Round 3, but I had a killer time in my first year doing this. Since I can't bear the thought of waiting another year for this, do you know of any other competitions with a similar format (timed, with prompts given to you)?

To clarify: I mean specifically screenwriting comps; I know NYCM does other writing challenges but I haven't found other groups that do screenwriting.

Ink2Screen is a good one. It runs monthly, and unfortunately we are in the middle of the current one, but you could do next month. It runs the 15th to 20th each month —5 days to write 5 pages. Prompts are based on an image (vs. genre, character, etc.). $20 to enter or $25 if you want feeback (which I have found helpful).

Depends on how close of an approximation you want to NYCM.

There are plenty of screenwriting competitions out there. https://screencraft.org/screenwriting-contests/" rel="nofollow - ScreenCraft  runs regular competitions in multiple formats and genres, the https://pageawards.com/the-contest/how-to-enter/" rel="nofollow - Page Awards is an annual competition that attracts literally tens of thousands of entrants, and the https://showcase.scriptation.com/" rel="nofollow - Scriptation Showcase .

But those competitions - https://www.moviebytes.com/directory.cfm" rel="nofollow - and many others like them - are connected to "the industry." They exist for writers who are looking to get buzz/connections on fully realized scripts, and professionals looking for something new.

NYCM is closer to writers' labs and workshops to help hone your craft (and maybe win prizes) than other competitions. In that sense, it's a bit unique; but, also pretty divorced from the competition circuit.

Hadn't heard of Ink2Screen before. Thank you for sharing!

Yeah I'll check out Ink2Screen too, thanks! I'm looking for more of the workshop route Cub3dWorld described, at least until I can get a feature-length script polished enough to send around. Cheers!

Anyone know what's up with Ink2Screen?

Been writing the organizer for a month now and haven't got a single reply.

Don't think I'll waste my time if they can't be bothered to respond to inquiries.

I recommend joining the "Ink 2 Screen Challenge Writers" Facebook group and asking your questions there. There's a chance your email went to a server or something.

You can sign up for the flash version now here at NYCM, starts the 26 th Sept, the first round includes two scripts being written by each contestant.  It is always a lot of fun.

This actually makes me wonder if maybe something is messing up on the technical end of things, because she is usually really responsive. If you don't end up joining the fb group, let me know and I can send her a message with your email so she can get in touch.
