I was just reading the rules for the finals, and I have a question.  One of the genres listed is "open genre."  My interpretation of this is that if the genre/topic assignment was Open Genre/Weightlifting (to use the topic I had in the first round), contestants could write a script in any of the listed genres, as long as it revolved around weightlifting.  Is that correct?

Yes, that is correct.  Good luck!
