Well, $49, or $44 with the discount.

Sup with that, NYC?

It's a regular beef here, the steep entry fees. In NYC's defence: it is about $10 cheaper if you register early; you are getting at least two rounds in this competetion and possibly four; you get feedback from the judges; and last but definitely not least, you get the input of the lovely people here on this forum.

So, yes $50 is pricey, but we're worth it *flicks hair as if in hair commercial*.

Topanga chimes in,

"Yes, we are sooo worth it."

*hands on hips facing a little to the side, front leg knee bent slightly, toe pointed, in modeling stance --flicks hair a second later than London, for extra emphasis*

Too many chicks on this board...

*** JoeK stands stoutly, looking slightly to the Southwest.  Perhaps there is something there for him.  Something _worthy_ of him.  But probably not.  I mean there's just nothing there.  Not that it isn't worthy.  Even "nothing" is worthy of Joe.  He thinks so, anyway.  He could be wrong.  ***

First - Hellow Joek! Missed tweeting with you!

Second - what's this with too many chicks on this board? Got news for you -there's one more now!

Third - certainly don't want to sound as if I've got loads of dough to throw around, because that's far from the case, but I've been in quite a few contests and I don't recall any being less than $45. Granted, they were all screenwriting contests, but I don't know why short story contests would be any different.

Everyone has got to live, even people who sponsor contests.

this is my first time in the Creative Writing Championsip
or any NYC competition
or being on this forum
but
$50 sounded reasonable to me
for a competition with cash prizes and guaranteed feedback and easy setup

a lot of magazines and chapbooks charge a fee to just submit for consideration to be printed
and you arent even guaranteed a rejection letter

so $50 for this sounded good to me

and im hoping it kicks me into a writing mood
good luck peeps

But back to a more important point -

Tops really is so worth it. I mean, look at how she's standing! And Londongirl with her flicking hair, my, my, my, those two! They're going to get arrested if they're not careful!

...not to mention Soot, who after seeing how stoutly JoeK is standing, has locked her husband in the basement...

...and welcome to the looney bin, burstandbloom!

Hi Joe, welcome back. How was the move? Joe, Joe? Are you there? Oh, he can't hear me. He's gone to fly a jet plane after having a satisfyingly close shave and stroked his manly chin appreciatively. Which gives me an idea for my bathroom romance ...

wow - a basement in Mobile Alabama. What a concept. Ask your insurance company why I'm strapping him to the roof instead. (besides the fact that he likes it.)

Hey, for fifty small buck you get....well....harassed by all the chicks on the forums, review by fellow writers, late results, really late judges feedback and the thrill and the glory and the vomit-inducing task of writing 1000 words in 48 hours.

Wait...what was my point again?

Getting harassed by me is worth fifty of your American dollars any day - and then some. I consider it a bargain.

Or you could be really cheap and get in for free by placing in the Tweet contest...(coughs quietly into fist)

Just sayin'. There are options. :)

Uh...placing? How about taking the whole damn shooting match!

Congrats on your first place finish, btw.

The audience win was great and I love it, but it could also mean I have a lot of friends.

Placing in the top ten on the judges' list made me as happy as winning the audience award. Does that make sense?

Absolutely. We're writers. We need validation! I totally get it.
