Got the notification about short screenplay today.  About six times.  Didn't check to see if the second batch had the dates right, but I'm assuming that's why they sent them twice.

Bought the ticket pretty much immediately. Then thought it might be a good idea to check the dates... luckily all's well!

I'm on the fence. The Screenwriting Challenge was a huge learning curve for me. This is shorter and a shorter time. Confused I don't know. Shocked

Shot time limit is not as bad as the short page count, not to me anyway, lol.

It's funny..I actually do better with the short page limit! 12 is just too much for me. I don't think I've ever used all 12 pages. I score much better in the Short Screenplay challenge. :)

Absolutely in. Every time I've done one, I come away with a story I never would have written without the prompts, and even when I don't care for them, it gets creative juices flowing and keeps me motivated to write. It feels like doing these comps regularly is a really good way to prevent writer's block.

Just...stop, you privileged elitist pig.  Now you're suggesting some people shouldn't get fifteen points for participating?

Reminds me of the joke the techs told when I was getting an MRI while doped up on fentanyl and morphine (don't ask how I remember this; I'm not sure myself).  Two men walked in to a bar...and I was coherent enough to provide the punch line, even if I mumbled a bit.

Crap, that's this weekend, isn't it?  Yeesh.

Guess I'd better sharpen my keyboard.  Make sure I have a limitless supply of Australian Shiraz because the prompts always look better when viewed through the bottom of a glass.

This is my favourite one =) I am so very happy to see so many newbies and returnees! Plus, for me, it's a great way to procrastinate on an actual end of month deadline. Maybe this contest will knock somethingloose.Lamp

I am in. I've stocked up on cheese and I'm picking up a juice box (merlot flavoured) on the way home tonight.

Let the madness begin!

I have found, historically, that it is far more difficult to view the prompts through the bottom of a box.  Granted they do look better, mostly because you can't see them anymore and can pretend comedy-weapon of mass destruction-newborn baby was the unfortunate side-effect of consuming a box of grape juice...

Prompts viewed through the punt of a bottle, on the other hand, take on a far more pleasing aspect.

Just saying.

Big smile

NGL, I'm in for a busy weekend and will need to piece together the time I need to write this.

But that's how I roll now, I guess.

I like the idea of drinking until something erupts on the page.

It's either that or Tequila, and I don't think writing during a black-out is ideal, lol

Plus I am (probably) not going to drink the whole thing Wink

Have you actually tried writing a screenplay during a black-out, or are you quitting before you ever get started?

I'm pretty sure that's how Shostakovitch's Octet was written.  More likely he used stevenmatlock's method.

Nothing else adequately explains how something that bad still shows up in the repertoire.
