I wonder how much companies suffer in productivity losses on NYCM posting day/the day after.

Just sayin.'

My guess would be a substantial loss of productivity. This is something we should probably keep off a company's radar.

Less than is lost to football games.  By quite a bit.

Considering it would be quite something for any one one company, or any one on branch of one company, to have more than one or two people entered on average, I'd say it would be pretty hard to even notice.

If I knuckle down and focus I might get the one fifteen minute job I gave myself for today done before I leave in half an hour or so.

Writing an annual review.  I seriously have to try not to get purple when I write those...it's just SO tempting...

Your performance over the last year was dark and stormy, filled with brilliant successes, but counterpointed with failures that drug you into the deepest pits of organizational despair...

My boss makes a dollar,
I make a dime,
that's why I write,
on company time

That's why I love SSC a little more than FFC - ends at midnight on Saturday, so I have a recovery day built in.  Not gonna lie, I may have called out sick after an FFC before... I'd be useless to them if I came in anyway.

Is this a writer penning an admission of needing sleep?

I work until 1:30 in the morning, and the Thursday and Friday before the deadline, I stayed up until 4:30 after work writing, then went back into work at 3. I finished my piece at work on an early lunch break and turned it in then.
I was pretty much useless until I got that done. LOL
