How to Fix Your Sig

Hello, fellow writers!
I have noticed that some newbies have had trouble hyperlinking their signature or their signatures go to their stories rather than their forum posts which makes it hard to make comments.

1.  Create your forum post following the subject rules.  Add your description and hyperlink to the location of your story (wordpress, blogger, google docs, etc.) using the globe and paperclip icon as usual.

2.  Copy the link to that forum post. *

3.  Go to your Member Control Panel, to Edit Profile, scroll down the page to edit your signature

You need to use BBcode brackets to make hyperlinks in your signature  [ ]
You put the address like this: [URL= webaddresshere ] Text/Title Here [/URL]

Here is mine as an example:

      [URL=http://forums.nycmidnight.com/rd1-heat10-mindful-things-spy_topic11946_post134726.html ] Mindful Things R1 H10 [/URL]

*Bonus:

Save space by shortening long web addresses.

go to http://www.tinyurl.com" rel="nofollow - tinyurl.com

paste in your link and it will shorten it for you

  Turn:
http://forums.nycmidnight.com/rd1-heat10-mindful-things-spy_topic11946_post134726.html
  Into:
http://tinyurl.com/j2tl3ud

There is a character count limit for all signatures.   If you want to create two clickable links, you must use "short links" to save on extraneous characters.

YES and make sure you put in the FORUM review thread address, not your blog or Google Doc if you want people to be able to leave feedback easily.

YES PLEASE ON THIS.

I am guilty of doing this in previous contests, and was puzzled why I wasn't getting feedback.

It is possible to find the story someone posted, but it throws you into the Search feature. Let me tell you: you do not want to fall into the Search feature.

Pithy sayings are for the apt. For a longer message, you need a condo.

I'm so using this if I ever get Horror as a genre…. death by Search!

It will not be a quick death. You will be in a maze of twisty passages, all alike...FOREVER.
