Can someone give me a list of prestigious creative writing competitions worldwide (popular and highly regarded).

Thanks!

I think those are actually pretty hard to find.  So many scams out there.

I used to run the Slamdance screenwriting competition - it's definitely legit and has done well for it's entrants - 'Maria full of Grace' & 'The Woodsman' were both screenplay winners that were made into acclaimed films among others.  Nichols is very well respected, as are quite a few others.  Do a little research, you should be able to shift through the chaff pretty easily.  Good luck.

Does anyone know when the next Twitter me a story contest is?  I once had a writing class in college where the prof had everybody turn in 5 individual sentences each time the class met. It seemed she actually read them. To this day I still jot down interesting sentences I hear or that pop into my head.< ="text/">_popupControl();

    Just to be going on with, you could try whacking out a 50 line or less poem for the Academi Cardiff International Poetry Competition... 1st prize, $7500. Closes Fri Jan 29th 2010. see: www.academi.org
