My action for the 100 word challenge is 'eating a pickled vegetable' (yeah, I know right?).

My question is, can I use an olive? I know it's technically a fruit, but so is a cucumber and I don't think anyone would put dill pickles in a fruit salad.

Does someone eating an olive satisfy the action requirement?

I think you're good to use it. For example, the USDA classifies pickled mushrooms as a vegetable. I actually thought olives were vegetables until your post lol

I'd take the gamble and use it personally, but I get the hesitation

I know you probably don't care anymore but I'm a nerd so I feel the need to give a definition.

A vegetable is just anything of plant origin. That's the scientific definition. The distinction between fruit and vegetable is purely cultural.

So, all fruits are vegetables as they are vegetable matter and grown by a plant. But not all vegetables are fruit because vegetable is an umbrella term which includes fruit, roots, leaves, flowers, etc.

So an olive is a vegetable.
