Ok, it's too quiet around here. Where are my chatters? My procrastinators? My "I'll read past stories for 3 hours straight and call it research" -ers?
We're a quarter of the way in (which, since I'm working tomorrow, actually means halfway eek). How's everyone going so far? How do you feel about the prompts? Are the words cooperating or going on strike? I've managed to squeeze out a first draft but it's stubbornly sitting at 210 words so I've come here to chat and procrastinate ;)

Howdy! I slept through the first few hours (timezones...) but I'm up now and pretty pleased with the prompts. There's scope for a lot of things.
Ideas are flowing, but words are trickier. I do have a draft I like now, so chances are I'll procrastinate the rest of the majority of my day under the guise of thinking of something else, and then decide to submit this one in the end anyway
I can feel it going that way. |

I have no ideas and no drafts, so I salute you who do.

Nothing at all on paper yet. The lack of an assigned genre is actually making me totally frozen with indecision. There are sooo many directions we could take. I almost wish someone would just assign me a genre haha!

I want to agree, but I think if I was assigned comedy or spy in the final I might spontaneously combust.

YES. I play around with assigning myself a genre, since I really feel like that constraint helps inspire me - but if they assigned HF or Romance I would be here complaining about that, too.

I wrote something. A phrase took hold in my brain as I was falling asleep. Kept me up, nagging me, so I woke up with an idea. I'm not sure it's a story. Maybe it is. Maybe it's not. But I haven't yet had any coffee, soooo.

These competitions are my favorite experiences of the year. I love the tension of the chase, punctuated by the vast silence of deliberation. Each round springing ahead like an alluring muse. The third is always where I realize I don’t know enough, and the pressure to grow as a writer before the deadline becomes foliage between me and the blank page. It’s the proximity of a golden opportunity that evades my grasp like a crimson leaf in the Breeze. Then always at eleven, throttled in branches, the moon comes into view, my pen a moondial again those final moments.

I'm in the UK so we kicked off 5am my time. I got up, did a frantic draft, went to work, edited on my lunch break, I've now got home from work (3:40pm now here) and thinking I might scrap everything I've done so far and start again... Anybody else in a similar boat??
