This is SO my jam.
In 600 words I'll cram
a story that rhymes
then have drinks with limes.
I will lose but won't care
And I'll do it with flair!

Anyone think that NYCM is angling to get rid of narrative poems in the flash fic contest after this? Thoughts?

If the Rhyme contest pulls enough in to make it worth repeating, I would not wholly be surprised to see a rule change to Flash restricting narrative poetry.

I've signed up. It's a complete waste of money since I know perfectly well that I am incapable of writing a 600 word rhyming story but it just sounds so hilarious that I had to try at least once.

Sums it up perfectly for me!

I definitely feel like I'm throwing away my money but who cares?! This sounds like so much fun - I'm in!

Interested to see what the 'emotion' prompt is like.

I mean, there are people who milk rhyming poems into flash fics (this would seem like a way to direct those to this contest instead.) Yeah, it usually is awkward at a few points, but 600 isn't THAT much longer than the 250...I'm kind of tempted as they seem to be serious about rhyming (no free verse) and it would certainly be a challenge, especially if you got something not inherently funny (not that there aren't broad definitions of funny. I love "The Cremation of Sam McGee" which is more than a touch morbid.)
