Cacoethes: an irresistible urge to do something inadvisable

Now I need to figure out how to pronounce it.

I like the word gridelin. I did a search for a word to describe grayish-purple (or purplish-gray) and that's the word. My friend suggested I use it as the interim title of my current novel-in-progress, so what the heck? Gridelin

It is pronounced cacoethes, pretty much just like it sounds!

That is a beautiful and useful word to add to the ol' armoury. Thank you!

I am personally very fond of the word 'esculent'. Fit to be eaten!

I often find it easier to remember words if I write them in a sentence, so: "My, that gridelin mushroom looks esculent! I have a real cacoethes to eat it."

Is your novel a sci-fi?  Because it sounds kinda space like.  Or dark like fences are closing in on someone...

Ooh, thanks for asking!! And yeah, you're really close! The gridelin aspect is the fog, which is closing around the church. The story's supposed to be a gothic horror novel, but whenever I try to write horror, it comes out campy. It cracks me up! LOL
