you should also check out the flea market at fairfax and melrose that goes on every sunday. then go and walk melrose and get something to eat somewhere (maybe blu jam for breakfast or pink's for hot dogs).
check out the getty too... it's the only thing worth seeing in LA. clear days are best for the view.
when you're downtown, go to 7th and wall st. the LA flower mart is on wall st. grab a coffee at the cafe and pay the two bucks to get in and wander around the giant warehouses. the peak time is 8AM, so wake up early. it's worth it.
go to the disney concert hall and take a free tour if you want, but id shell out however much money and see a performance if youve got time (its the only way they will let you see the actual hall with your own eyes, and it is amazing). the cathedral is near the concert hall - its a nice walk as you pass through the performing arts center with the ahmanson and the mark taper forum. the cathdral is ugly on the outside, but actually really nice on the inside.
when you're at usc, go have lunch at the Galen Center behind heritage hall (not the new gym) - it's like a sports bar with memorabilia everywhere and no one knows about it except for the athletes.
maybe drive down sunset, stop into amoeba music and buy something and then check out a movie at the arclight theater next door (and fight off the scientologist recruiters standing around). take in myfair lady or wicked if you got time and money - theyre good productions.
the groundlings on melrose is famous and friday night shows are better than anything SNL puts on.
the griffith park observatory is open now and its supposed to be cool. nice view.
okay, im out.

oh yeah, check whats showing at the aero in santa monica when youre out. its part of the american cinemateque and they always show classic movies and have people who worked on the films come and speak.

who's playing at the hollywood bowl? that's always worth it.

HA HA HA! sharp eye Bueno!
None of us even noticed that!!
Someone will benefit- obviously this post is still being read.

The one thing I would addto yours, is a trip to Santa Monica Pier, and take a ride on the new Ferris Wheel!~ Most of us haven't even seen it yet, as it is only days old. Then drive up the coast and have some clam chowder at the Reel Inn, and go all the way up to Trancas for steamers or lobster, or whatever. Don't forget to stop at Leo Carrillo beach for one of the most famously photographed beaches for surfer movies around. The other one is at the east end of Zuma, which you can also visit on the same trip. Almost every beach movie ever made on the west coast were made at those two beaches. Can you say Gidget?

Since I wrote the above Post, the master guru, owner and creater of the west coast phenomenum, the Sagebrush Cantina passed away and was laid to rest on Friday. 30# yrs of transformation, great food, live music, and wild and crazy days nights, in this neck of the woods, so get there while you can, because this could be the end of an era for the Sagebrush. One of the true Character's in this life R.I.P. Bob McCord. Only you could die of a disease that is contracted by one in one million people.
