I finally submitted mine after overthinking every word of it all day! I had a really hard time picking a title. I'm always super indecisive about titles.
 Best of luck to everyone else competing in this final round. I've had SO much fun, and I wish I used this forum more along the way!

I finished my first story at 3am after the assignments. I really dove head first in the theme of lifting. Woke up this morning and wrote the first half of a second story. Spent the entire day not getting anywhere with it so I eventually went back and just tweaked my first story. I'm glad I did because I am happy with it. I went with Fantasy... I guess. That might not be a good categorization. I worry that I might have gone a little too serious especially after I got feedback from my last round that a judge was glad to see I didn't take myself too seriously (R2 was comedy after all). Well... I took this one seriously. I probably won't win, but I feel good about my submission at least.

Does anyone know if it was necessary to put the genre on the submission form? I know there was a space for it, but it didn't require an answer to be submitted. Tbh, idk what my story would be considered =/

I don't *think* so? This is my first time in a final so I can't say for sure, but I feel as though it should've been a required question if it were necessary! Whenever I don't know what category a story is, I always put "drama" since I feel like that's the vaguest description on the NYCM genre page

I only figured it out when I pulled "drama" for my FF this year, and I looked up the definition and was really no better off than when I started
I couldn't figure out the genre of my final so I just threw drama in there since it felt closest, and that's gonna be my go-to from now on haha |
