For minor characters who have just a few lines, is it strictly necessary to introduce them with a line of text?
I have a bartender in one scene. He has three lines. Do I need to introduce him with, like, "Behind the bar, BARTENDER is pouring drinks" - seems like overkill - I mean what else would a bartender be doing? Or can I just start with BARTENDER and then his first line? Thanks!

I feel if his name is Bartender, and he has an action before his dialogue, capitalize it.

Maybe something like: The BARTENDER slides him a drink.
I think you need to introduce her/him with at least a little action. That way they don’t just come out of nowhere.
