Absolutely. There are no "rules" about it, so you do whatever you are most comfortable with! 

Also, remember this feeling next time you are hit with fantasy or SciFi. Time flux is such a prompt bitch. LOL

I've got 76,734 words down, which is 40-some thousand more than I had when short story ended. 
Most of them don't suck, so in another 100,000 words I'll do some editing.

Obviously not a micro...but then I'm not in it either.  If someone wants a read from a pedantic engineer I'm around.

I'd suggest deleting every third word and just praying to the story gods it works out Tongue. I haven't finished my first draft yet, but I'll very likely have the same problem shortly.
