I had a similar set of bad-fate circumstances and I commend you for doing the thing! I pulled an all nighter and feel like it was worth the sleeplessness that I had dragging through the next couple days. What an adrenaline rush. Hope your family is now in good health!

Oops I made a separate post not seeing this thread was here.  Yes! Rough time this year.  Couldn't get my act together to write and ended up turning my story in late and over word count and getting disqualified.  That's never happened to me before.  I'm proud of myself thought.  Even after I saw the time limit was up I kept writing until it was done.  I completed something in the haze of covid quarantine and that's and accomplishment.  and how I get to hang in the forums with all you lovely people, so all in all still very worth it!

So sorry you did not make it in time, but you should still get feedback from NYCM even if DQ'd.
So that is something. And there is nothing stopping you from posting your story in the forum,
just explain it all in your post, I am sure you will get lots of feedback.

Thank you.  The submission criteria said that the judges are not obligated to provide feedback for anything more than 100 words over the limit and my story was 900 words over the limit, so we'll see what they decide. I definitely did post my story in the forums here and I'm looking forward to getting feedback from this wonderful community. If you want to read it there's a link in my signature, and I'm happy to reciprocate!

I did not know of the word limit caveat for the feedback.... Never having gone over, haha. But will read your story.
