Hey all!
I'm in group 42-- drama/regret/a person being sued.  But this question is open to everyone and anyone-- does your protagonist HAVE to be your character assignment? Can the assigned character play a smaller role? I didn't know if the rules were specific in that way.
Thank you! Happy writing!

From the Official Rules...

"The assigned character must be a relevant character used in the screenplay."

So, it does not necessarily have to be the MAIN character, but it should be a RELEVANT character.

I've read scripts that made it through to the next round that only had a passing resemblance to the prompt.  Like, I remember one where the character was a dentist and the guy is in the waiting room for a dentist at the start, but the dentist never appears.  The script made it through though.
