I think I've improved fairly dramatically. I think I've always been a fairly strong story teller and dialogue writer, but my screenwriting form was pretty sloppy and I was way too undisciplined with my narratives.

The one good thing about last years comeptition is that the script that resulted impressed some people enough to land me a writing partner with some interesting and possibly lucrative projects.

I'm hoping this one lands me a multi-million dollar three-picture deal with points.

Did I mention that I have no concept of reality?
Not all who wander are lost, not all who wonder without wisdom.

Afraid I'm the complement of "not getting older, getting better," I'm not getting better, I'm getting older (or not gittin' gooder, gittin' odor).

Congrats on the contest & sorry about the job.

My discipline has improve, not as sure about the writing. I have sent out more work and have gotten some positive feedback, just no real bites as of yet. Hopefully soon though. Big smile

Ironically, the best script I've ever written was in the first round last year. I use it as my "go to" writing sample whenver people ask to read something I've written. It's short, it's sweet, and it's exactly the kind of story I love to write ... and I started with a genre/subject pairing that I didn't think I could pull off. Go figure.

I gave my final round script to an animator friend to show around to his friends to see if anyone wants to make it - it's solidly animated. No takers yet and I don't really have my hopes too high for anything to come from it.

On the "improvement" side I'm not sure if my writing has improved, but I've had some modest success. I'm currently cowriting a feature with a multi-film festival winning and Independent Spirit Nominated writer-director and he wants this script to become his second feature so there's a fairly decent chance something will come of that ... we've already got a half dozen or so indie production companies (some well known) interested in reading it when it's finished.

I'm also co-directing a short later this summer and will be directing my own short in the fall. Things are falling into place.

Wow, that's exactly how I feel about my first round script last year.

What genre/subject did you have?  I would love to read a copy of your script if you are willing to share.

Had drama - a fighter. It was called Death of the Bulls. I'm pretty sure you read it last year. Bullfighter and a little boy ... etc. Ring a bell?
