Hello! This is my first time writing a screenplay, and I'm stuck on if/how to include certain sounds. Basically, I want to include the sound of ears ringing in my opening scene (the scene occurs immediately after something traumatic). I have two questions here:
1 - am I allowed to include sounds like this that do not have a clear 'source' in the scene? and 2 - if I can include it, does anyone know a better way say "the sound of ears ringing"? Google isn't helping - every search just wants to diagnose me with tinnitus....

Not really sure what you are asking. Now, to show that it hurt
his ears might be to have him hold his ears and then remark that it had made his ears ring. Hope that helps.

The sound itself you can capitalize it so that the reader see it, like BOOM, as well as my other suggestions.
