I felt like I did pretty much no world-building and just relied on cartoonish concepts of afterlife/heaven to carry me through. LOL

I did actually swing from literally-in-heaven to focus on the "match" part and started working out in my head a sports-themed story based around a coach and a ref at a rugby match. Rugby is the only team sport I've played a decent amount and it has a LOT of terminology you could have fun with in a romcom - if I'd only had this idea at the beginning and given my all over the weekend, I think I could have come up with something really fun. But then, if judges lean American, where the sport isn't as popular, I could have ended up with a lot of references none of them understood.

Hello, groupmates! Looks like we all went with different eras. Looking forward to read yours (if you decide to share your stories).

IN SEARCH OF TREASURE
Pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Read inspired young Alice to take what she needs.

(Reading this thread, I'm glad I'm not the only one who struggles with the synopsis. However, I somehow always struggle even more with the title.)

Historical fiction was a first for me, and having to incorporate more research than usual into this already tight time frame, was definitely a challenge. (An enjoyable one though!)

Ooh, treasure and pirates! I'm already hooked, so to speak! Can't wait to read it, if you decide to post!

Haha, yeah, I find titles particularly tricky too. In my case, I think it's because by the time I have to pin the title down, I'm questioning why I thought the story was a good idea in the first place! My title for this one was a working title while I waited for a more inspired title to hit. Still waiting...Tongue

I did just post it, but I feel like I should add a disclaimer that despite all of my research focusing on pirates, the actual story does not feature them as much as I'd intended...and the treasure might also be somewhat absent. 😆

Lol, exactly! I went with a very simple title at first, only to realise that the last line of my story kind of contradicted the title. XD
Good thing you had that working title. Tongue
