This was my first time participating in the flash fiction challenge and I didn't place. But I read that we can still participate in the 2nd round. However, I wasn't given an assignment. How do I participate without being given an assignment?

In previous years, writers could participate in the first two challenges, but that changed this year. The rules reflected this change and you can read more about why the change was made at https://www.nycmidnight.com/ffc#importantnote. Hi, Assuming you're talking about the 500 word challenge - Results are typically posted late in the evening Eastern time, on average I would say between 9 - 11 pm. So it could definitely be any minute but also might be a while longer! You'll get an email when they are posted. Regarding sharing, if you're talking about here on the NYCM forums we have been allowed to do so for awhile (a few days after the stories were submitted they sent an email to confirm and tell us we could come share here). I believe they want us to wait until results are up before sharing outside of the forum. Best of luck!
