Yep, swords are drawn. I'm an Oxford comma devotee and proud of it.

Yes! A person who rejects the Oxford comma must be a blackguard, a caitiff, or a knave. It is useful, necessary, and good. Kings, angels, and gods use it.

As an experiment I ran my prompts from the first round of the short story (comedy, surrogate mother, insurance policy) through the program. Not withstanding the gaping plot hole in the first paragraph, the story-telling was pretty bad. I'm sure it will improve in time, but for now it has a long way to go.
Jenny was a young,
bright-eyed woman who had always dreamed of becoming a mother. Unfortunately,
fate had different plans for her. After several rounds of IVF treatments, she
was informed by her doctor that she would never be able to carry a child of her
own. Heartbroken and devastated, she didn't know what to do. That's when she stumbled upon the idea
of becoming a surrogate mother. She had heard of it before but never really
considered it until now. After doing her research and talking to a few
surrogate mothers, she decided to take the plunge. It wasn't an easy decision,
but she knew that she wanted to give someone the gift of life. Jenny went through the screening
process and was soon matched with a couple who had been struggling to conceive
for years. They were over the moon and couldn't believe their luck. Jenny was
ecstatic as well. She had never felt so fulfilled and happy in her life. Everything was going well until the
couple presented her with an insurance policy. It was an odd request, but they
explained that they had heard horror stories of surrogate mothers running off
with the baby or changing their minds. They wanted to make sure that they were
protected in case anything went wrong. Jenny read through the policy and was
stunned. It was a comedy of errors. It covered everything from alien abductions
to shark attacks. She couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all. The policy stated that if the baby was
lost due to an alien abduction, the couple would receive a sum of $1 million.
If the baby was swallowed by a shark, they would receive $500,000. If the baby
was stolen by a band of gypsies, they would receive $250,000. The list went on
and on. Blah, blah, blah |

Clarkesworld just closed their submissions due to being inundated with AI story submissions. http://neil-clarke.com/a-concerning-trend/ Plus the tweet: https://twitter.com/clarkesworld/status/1627711728245960704 500 AI submissions and it's not even the end of February. Dudes, stop using AI. Don't even experiment with it. You're teaching it how to be better at making editors' and writers' jobs worse.

Wow, that Clarkeworld article is wild.
Someone responded to the Twitter link with this link: https://gptzero.me/ I put in a few paragraphs from one of my stories and the result was, "Your story is likely to have been written entirely by a human." I imagine even these detection websites won't be able to keep up with everything going on out there. I would think that the people who are actually using the AI for writing are just trying to win money, which won't kill short fiction writing, but it does make it frustrating for those of us who want to compete with other humans. |

Ugh!! Unreal! Just today in my day job I was told that I document I'm creating is also being created by an AI as a test. I'm literally competing against the freaking AI for a job I already have. The AI will complain less.
