I wrote on the Round 3 Prompt. Just for the hell of it. Not submitted. I didn’t make it to round 3.
Double Entendre’s First Icing Beer spewed out of Ned’s nose like a fountain, amber
droplets joining dead minnows on ice. “It’s not funny.” Jed whined. “You’re going to lift him in a lift?” Jed’s thick fingers throttled the tiny rod. “Look. I’ve thought about it. I
need a name with a ring”. “What else were you planning? Jack Jack’s carjack?”
Ned hooted. -
"Shut up, Ned." “Nick Nick’s knickers?” Ned
doubled over. -
"I said, shut it!" “No wait! Why don’t you Lift Mike in Nebraska? The DICTIONARY strikes again!” Ned’s face slammed against the ice. His head shoved into the
hole. Edited by Zero11 - 31 Jul 2022 at 7:11pm |

Here’s the first idea that came to mind, laughing = clowns
Respect (Drama) Sorry Bozo, I hate clowns. Blame Hollywood, or the joker at Joey’s birthday party who humiliated me with his pie act. I duck behind Frankenstein, count the paper bats on the ceiling, and rummage through my bag for Twizzlers. Anything to avoid eye contact. I wish he’d stop waving at me. Maddie’s shrieks of laughter cut through the air like knives. Her warm smile, hidden for months, starts to melt the ice in my stomach. As he places the gaudy balloon hat atop her barren head, I surrender and lift my glass of cider half an inch. Thanks, Bozo. |

I love it. I so wish you had moved on to round three. Your subtle hint at loss is like a yawning story like the negative space in a painting. Just a simple act and thought, but it conveys something much bigger. If I were you, I wouldn't "publish" this one on this forum. It does deserve to be published elsewhere.

(Not submitted) Science fiction, probably Drama, too In defiance of relativity The Scientists say time travel is impossible. I really hope they’re wrong—I could use a do-over. On this Pier, I would have done everything differently. A little girl walks over and lifts her eyes to meet mine. I remember what she’s thinking, from twenty-four years ago. I grit my teeth, lean over, and whisper: “Don’t worry. We’ll be alright.” A woman about seventy wheels over, smiling. She leans in, laughs quietly, and whispers into my ear the very same thing. Three pairs of hands come together. We sit silently, watching the ocean.
Einstein’s action-at-a-distance isn’t so spooky after all. |

I liked that! Time travel is a tough one to pull off, but it works well for a 100 word story.
